Ilja Zofin (1954) studied screenplay and dramaturgy at the renowned Gerasimow Institute for Cinematography (WGIK) in Moscow. He came to Berlin in 1990 as an immigrant of Jewish origin from the Soviet Union. But he was initially unable to work as a screenwriter. He struggled with different jobs until he got the chance to work for a logistics company. Later he founded two companies himself: the logistics firm NTZ and the trading company Isycon. After the sale of his first company in 2011, he returned to his real passion, writing. Since then he has written numerous scripts for film and TV productions in Russia and Germany and founded the production company LM Media in 2017. Zofin lives and works in Berlin.
