Peter Asmussen (born March 28, 1957 in Frederiksberg) is a Danish author, playwright and screenwriter.
Asmussen, who is the son of Jes Peter Asmussen, graduated from Eastern Civic Gymnasium in 1975. He made his debut in book form with the short story collection Votes in 1989 and several times since received State Arts Grant. In 1996 he was co-author Lars von Trier's Breaking the Waves.
In 2000, he received Kjeld Abell Prize and the Danish playwrights Merit Award and in 2010 Reumert Award in the category of the Year for playwright None meet someone who was keen on House Theatre.
Since 1996 he has been married to Juliane Preisler.
