简介:日裔巴西女导演Tizuka Yamasaki的成名作,讲20世纪初日本移民在巴西的生活,片中能看出山崎受日本电影的影响,很多场景带明显的小津风格。80年嘎纳影展FIPRESCI奖。 Based on fact, this is the story of the struggles of Japanese immigrants who traveled to and settled in Brazil looking for a better life. A beautifully filmed story of immigrants arriving in a foreign land, being exploited for their lack of knowledge and language and overcoming discrimination to forge a new life in a strange land. One of the movies I speak of to friends over and over again, a universal story with relevance to all those who find themselves seeking to fit in, to retain their dignity in the face of cruelty and racial and national bias. It is based on the major migration of Japanese to the "New World", in particular Brazil, in the period after WW1. It deals with their exploitation in the agricultural sector of the Brazilian economy. Hard to find. I saw it at a Film Society in Alaska in the late 80's. Hope it will be released someday soon in a locally viewable format.
